Spot market signals and uncover hidden client opportunities

January 12, 2027 @ 11:00 - 12:30
€24.90

Market trends are broader shifts affecting an industry or group of organisations, such as talent shortages, new regulation, changing customer behaviour, technological developments, new competitors entering the market or rising costs and pressure to work more efficiently. Market signals are specific, observable events suggesting that an organisation may soon need external expertise.

At this workshop, you will learn how to translate these developments into potential client needs. Signals could include a company opening a new office, entering a new market, announcing a strategic priority, appointing a new leader, advertising several related vacancies, receiving investment or going through a merger or acquisition. By recognising what these changes are likely to trigger, you can approach organisations with a relevant idea before their need becomes a publicly available freelance assignment.

You will learn how to:

  • Distinguish broad market trends from concrete buying signals
  • Identify which developments could create demand for your expertise
  • Monitor company announcements, press releases, vacancies and leadership changes
  • Track relevant keywords and company mentions through LinkedIn, Google Alerts, newsletters and trade media
  • Use market barometers, labour-market data and sector reports to spot growing needs
  • Turn a signal into a timely conversation without making unsupported assumptions
  • How to build a simple watchlist of target organisations, sectors and signals
